Collection of observations using a PDA.
DMC1 supplies PDA's equipped with three useful applications for field operation: |
TomTom Navigator route planning with integrated customer data |
Combine the Routing function of TomTom Navigator standard software with your own data. E.G. valve stations imported as Points-Of-Interests and available for navigation. For overview purposes the pipeline route can be integrated into the appropriate map material by TeleAtlas. Benefit: Inexpensive Routing function with a current road map provides with own data. |

PDA PM Viewer- The "Mini-GIS" for PDA |
Based on the PDA platform from MapInfo, DMC1 developed a simple GIS with a GPS connection. Here the detail maps from the inventory data (land register, pipeline route, marker post, valve stations) can be integrated. The following GIS basic functions are available: Zoom, Pan, Info tool, Layer Control, Label, Thematic Maps, Find... Using this tool you can access all relevant pipeline GIS data in the field. |

PDA Observer - The tool for collecting observations in the field |
Collect your field observations using a PDA. A list shows all observations collected. These can be edited, deleted or exported. A new observation is created simply at the push of a button. The GPS position, date and time are automatically recorded. A user observation text and an optional sketch complete the data. |

The import of the collected observations takes place in the Pipeline Manager automatically. Simply place the PDA in the Docking station. This automatically opens the PDA Import Tool and the observations will be imported into the Activity Manager. |

For users of other GIS or data base systems an XML export of the observations is available. For users of MapInfo a further simple Import Tool is available (without Pipeline Manager and Activity Manager).
